FriendsF4R projects are led or instigated by young disabled people in collaboration with their academic allies, across borders and across disciplines. Network funding from the UKRI Arts and Humanities Research Council enabled us to establish the network, explore good practice and identify commonalities by directly funding several small young people led projects.

We are committed to innovative, creative, multi-modal and multi-lingual participatory approaches alongside opportunities for young people to extend their experience of more familiar research processes. We are using creative media to communicate evidence and bring about change. For example, bycreating films, podcasts, photography, art and serious games to collate narratives and learning about effective research and to impact practice in ways that are accessible for a wide audience. Key to this is our ongoing Digibank of outputs to challenge discrimination and marginalisation which will grow with the network.
